How Much Laundry Soap Should You Use?
More laundry soap does not always mean cleaner clothes.
Using too much can make rinsing harder, waste product, and leave more behind in the machine or fabric. The goal is to use enough for the load in front of you—not to fill the scoop because it feels safer.
Start With Two Tablespoons
For a normal full load, start with about two tablespoons of Kingston Oak Laundry Soap.
That is enough for most everyday loads in both standard and high-efficiency washing machines. Our laundry soap is concentrated, so you do not need the large amounts common with many liquid products.
Use Less for Smaller or Lightly Soiled Loads
For a smaller load or clothing that only needs a routine wash, one tablespoon may be enough.
Using the lightest effective amount helps the powder dissolve, rinse cleanly, and last longer.
Use More Only When the Load Calls for It
For a very large load, heavily soiled work clothes, towels, or strong everyday odors, you may need a little more. Increase gradually rather than doubling the amount automatically.
Stains, grease, mud, and ground-in dirt often need pretreatment or a longer wash cycle. Dumping in extra laundry soap is not a substitute for treating the actual problem.
High-Efficiency Washers
Kingston Oak Laundry Soap can be used in high-efficiency washers. It is low-sudsing, which is what an HE machine needs.
Add the powder according to your washer’s instructions. Some machines accept powder in the detergent compartment, while others work best when it is added directly to the drum before the clothes.
Water and Machine Differences Matter
Water hardness, load size, washer design, soil level, and cycle choice can all change the amount that works best. Start with two tablespoons, watch the results, and adjust in small steps.
The right amount is the amount that gets the clothes clean and rinses well. No ceremony needed.
